Marcus J. Barresi, CLU, ChFC, RHU, REBC 
President
Marcus graduated with honors from St. Joseph’s College in North Windham, Maine having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He later received his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), and Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC) degrees from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Marcus is also a licensed insurance consultant in the State of Maine.

These designations make Marcus a member of an elite group of financial services professionals. Marcus has retained membership in the Million Dollar Round Table for over 18 years and is also a member of the Association of Advanced Life Underwriters, which represents the top 1% of his industry.

He is also a past president of the Maine Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and a Charter Member of the Health Insurance Agents of America along with representing his industry on the Maine Legislature’s “Select Commission of Access to Healthcare”.

Marcus has also served as president in many community organizations such as the Presque Isle Rotary Club and The Aroostook Medical Center Title Corporation, Chairman of the Mark Turner Foundation, Chairman of the Presque Isle Industrial Council, and past board member of St. Joseph’s College. Marcus received the Rotary International “Four Avenues of Service Citation” in 2001 and a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow in 2004.

Nathan J Berry, M.S.B.   
Director of Finance / Partner
Nate joined Barresi Financial in 1998. He graduated from Husson College in Bangor, Maine having received Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Financial Management and Master of Science in Business degrees.

He is currently enrolled in the Chartered Financial Consultant Program at the American College and the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program through the International Foundation of Educations, Benefits & Compensation. Professional achievements include the State of Maine Health and Life Insurance License. Nate has served as board member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club, the Maine Healthcare Purchasing Collaborative, the Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce, and Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development.

Nate manages a large group benefits block of business on day-to-day basis as well as marketing to clients through the group benefits, individual investment and insurance division of Barresi Financial. As Director of Finance, Nate coordinates the finances, budgeting and strategic planning of the firm.

Scott D. Boucher
Director of Operations / Partner
Scott joined Barresi Financial in 1998. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. He is currently enrolled in the Chartered Financial Consultant program at the American College.  Professional achievements include the State of Maine Health and Life Insurance License.

Scott is an active member in the Anah Temple Shrine, Trinity Masonic Lodge #130, and the Bangor Rotary Club. As Director of Operations, Scott handles the day-to-day personnel and human resource tasks and also works in both the group department and the individual department in servicing existing accounts and marketing to prospective clients.

Shawn N. Brennan, CHC
Vice President of Sales
Shawn joined our firm in 2004 and brings with him over 20 years of group insurance carrier experience. As Account Executive, Shawn is responsible for the sales and management of large group plans including self-insured cases.  

Prior to employment with Barresi Financial, Shawn worked in a number of capacities with BC/BS of Maine for 16 years, and more recently with Aetna Healthcare for 9 years as Senior Account Executive. Shawn is a graduate of Westbrook College, has his Chartered Healthcare Consultant designation from the Market Development Institute from Purdue University, and holds the State of Maine Health & Life Insurance License.

Scott E. Violette
Account Manager
Scott joined our firm in 2007. Professional achievements include the State of Maine Health and Life Insurance License and the Series 7 license. Scott is responsible for assisting clients with their insurance needs.

Scott graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. He’s worked as a retail general manager for the last twelve years .Scott is new to this field, but brings a wide background of management and customer service experience to the business.

Jennifer S. Haas, MPA, RHU 
Group Service Specialist
Jennifer joined our firm in 2003. As Group Service Specialist, Jennifer services group clients in the Bangor office. Some of her responsibilities include the preparation of health insurance studies, assisting group clients with claims, billing, and enrollment issues, and working with the various insurance carriers on behalf of our clients.

Jennifer graduated with distinction from the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Management and a Master of Public Administration degree. She is currently enrolled in the Registered Health Underwriter Program at the American College. She also holds a Maine Life and Health insurance license, and has over eight years experience in group health insurance sales and servicing. She was previously employed by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Beth A. Williams
Service Representative
Beth joined our firm in 2004. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She holds a Maine Life and Health license. Having previously been employed as an Account Service Representative by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, she brings more than five years of experience in the servicing of group clients.

As Service Representative, Beth will be responsible for the service of our large market clients including self-funded clients.

Nancy L. Brewer 
Group Retirement Plan Coordinator
Nancy joined our firm in 2002. As Group Retirement Plan Coordinator, Nancy is responsible for providing client support to our group retirement plan clients on a day-to-day basis.

Prior to employment with Barresi Financial, Nancy was employed as Vice President/Personal Trust Administrator for Key Trust Company, NA in Presque Isle. Professional achievements include Certificate with Honors from the New England School of Banking, and Financial ParaPlanner certification. Nancy is a past President of Financial Women International – Aroostook Group and past member of the Maine Bankers Association and the Aroostook County Tax Seminar Planning Committee.

Margaret S. Ellis, CEA
Client Services Administrator
Margaret joined our firm in 1998. Prior to employment with Barresi Financial Margaret was employed as a Secretary for Chester M. Kearney, CPA and also for the Aroostook Valley Railroad. Margaret’s responsibilities at Barresi Financial, Inc. are to coordinate, submit and track new business in the individual department in addition to providing client services.

Margaret also provides sales support to the Registered Representatives, prepares client correspondence, firm staff coordination, carrier licensing and provides assistance to the President. Margaret earned her Certified Executive Assistant designation from the CEA Institute, Baton Rouge, LA. She is a graduate of Central Aroostook High School and has completed courses at Northern Maine Technical College.

Joy R. Pierce 
Accounting Assistant
Joy joined our firm in 2003. She is responsible for the bookkeeping, accounts payable and other financial related tasks for Barresi Financial.

Joy graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education in Biology. She’s worked in public education for 3 years as well as in the animal medical field. Joy is new to this field, but she brings a wide background of experience and skills to the business.
