This is your yearly reminder that employers are responsible for notifying their Medicare-eligible group plan members whether their coverage is creditable or non-creditable. The process is simple. Employers will first need to determine if any of their employees are currently Medicare-eligible or Medicare-enrolled or will become Medicare-eligible/enrolled during 2022.
- If they have no employees within those groups, nothing needs to be done.
- If they do have employees in those groups, employers will need to check the creditable status of their group plan(s), and use the links provided in the attached notice to create and send the appropriate notification(s). If Medicare-eligible employees are added during the year, the employer must inform them of their available group plans’ creditability status when they become eligible for plan membership.
